Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon?

Hi all

Thinking of upgrading my system, but I wonder if a Pentium 4 or AMD Athlon is a better choice. Please help! Thanks.

More about pentium athlon
  1. Check out the buyers guide :)

    XP2000, 256ddr 2100ram, GF4 MX440, XP Pro
  2. First, we need to know more about you and what you want to do with your system?

Do you have a limited budget?
Will you play games a lot with your PC?
Do you do video encoding or other specialised software?

Currently, if you play to play games and do everyday stuff the Athlon 64 3000+ is a great performer for the price. But, if you do a lot of video/audio encoding (Mp3, DivX) you will get better performance with a P4C based system.

But, give us more details and we will be pleased to help you!

  4. I am sorry Hog that is some realy bad system specs I hate to bring it up but the MX440 was the worst card Nvidia ever made.

I wonder if you did a little shopping around if you could get a new MoB CPU and Graphics card plus some DDR 400 Ram reasonably cheap some place.

If you realy have problems getting an upgrade going my email is nolnighthawk@rogers.com I could get a few things for you at half price and Fed/Ex them to you free shipping.

  5. Nah, the mx440 is fine. Those who never owned one said its pants, but it isnt. It doesnt pretend to be great, only dx7, but it runs ut2003 / 4 beautifully, and gp4, GTAIII.....

when i can afford it im gonna buy a 9600xt tho.

  7. P4 is maybe slichtly better then XP, but it cost more.
XP overclocks also nice, just as the P4.
But Athlon64 is an other story :o)
