I see a TON of people who have overclocked their 2500+ to 3200+ by setting the FSB to 200. However the 2800+ is getting a ton cheaper now, newegg has it for $125 retail. So how does this like being overclocked? Has anyone set their FSB to 200 for this? I believe this would put it to 2506Mhz, putting it around a 4000+ ??

Can this processor handle that much oc'ing, or could you only put the FSB to about 180ish? Even 180 would still make it about a 3300 or 3400+ probably. Just curious.

Don't think it overclocks as good as the 2500+, read the CPU guide and the 2800+ model is on the "avoid" list..

Yes I have my wife's 2800+ set to 3000+ right now it had a little trouble staying at 180 fsb but only because I have not yet installed a good quality cooler.

It sits at 3000+ with no problems at all and the performance is outstanding. Of course her machine has a ASUS A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard and is running 2 512MB sticks of DDR 400 Corsair PC3200 in DUAL channel mode Slot 2 and Slot 3 seem to work the best.

At settings for 3000+ if I recall that is 175 fsb the memory is running @ 210 MHz DDR so X2 = 420 MHz.

All in all the stock AMD Cooler shows temps for the CPU at 42c and the mother board has a temp of 24c the CPU DIODE shows 44c.

The Stock AMD Cooler has a new fan design with the Authentic Barton's that runs at 3000 rpm +/- 10 so it is more then adequate for the 175 fsb settings as we have had very stable performance from the system at that setting.

When I decide to blow 50 plus dollars on a cooler I will defiantly set the CPU to 180 fsb and keep it there.

Remember you might not be able to get a 2800+ new that is unlocked so make sure you verify the CPU code on the chip before you by it.

I have a 2500+ that I simply cant figure out what to do with that is unlocked but I will not part with it. I keep thinking I will oc it to 3000+ and run it for a game server out of the house but that will only last a few short days possibly weeks before my High Speed provider clue's in and cans me ;) I dont want to suck up all the broadband in the hood but my connection was the first one installed and most recently hardware updated I am getting around 2250.5 kbps for through put at this point but in large part I have not seen those great numbers in the last 7 years on my connection untill I started using the onboard 3Com LAN on the A7N8X Deluxe Motherboard. The Network cards at 10/100 switch are slower then the built in 3Com RJ45 or Nvidia RJ45 connection.
