Your question

Ont install ide hdd on SATA host

November 24, 2012 1:17:45 PM

My 500 GB SATA HDD broke two weeks ago. i had this 40 GB IDE HDD from old PC and want to use to replace my broken SATA HDD. For that purpose i bought an SATA host to IDE HDD adapter and hooked my IDE HD. BIOS detected it fine and i ran WIN 7 installer from SATA DVD. when prompted where to install windows, i choose my IDE drive (SATA IDE removed already), delete FAT partitioned, made NTFS primary + system partition. But when i format the HDD, it said "error formating" code bla bla bal. Question: is WIN 7 incompitible with my SATA to IDE adapter? Do I need a driver for this adapter? How can i get the instalation done? I have switch the BIOS to IDE mode (compatible).
