I currently have a ASUS A7V8X mother board with an Athlon XP 2700 CPU. Runs great and such, my question is can my motherboard support a AMD Athlon 64 3000? Im a noob so bare with me :P

No, your motherboard can only support Athlon XP CPUs (up to the 3200+). For any other processor you need to buy a new mobo as well.
