I am having to RMA my processor and as a result have taken off my Thermalright heatsink. Naturally i want to keep the lovely clean finish to the contact surface. What is the best way to do this?
Should i protect it now or leave it and clean it up when i need it again in 60 days!!
Cheers for your help.

Someone please unwire me...the gadgets are taking over!
Unless you keep it in a vaccuum, you wont stop it from tarnishing. If you really need it to look that good just clean it up again when you put it back on.

I don't think you should be worried about it. Put the HS in a safe place where it can't be damaged.
You can put a film of oil on the heat transfer surface. Don't forget to clean the oil off before re-installation.
You could be right for saying 'near impossible to completly remove it', but in my experience that doesn't hurt HSF performance, at least not noticeable.
I always apply some oil on HSF base when it's not in use. When the HSF is needed, I simply clean it with contact cleaner and then install as usual. So far I didn't see any drop in HSF performance.
i prefer a larger size plastic box used for holding fluids. Wrap the hs in a plastic bag and put it in the box, include a little dehumidifier box in that plastic box.
