2. Check your firewall is turned on;
3. Install a good antiv-virus and good doesn't have to be expensive or even paid for. Avast, Avira and AVG all have good quality free versions.
4. Keep the unnecessary clutter down to a minimum - use ATF Cleaner from http://www.atribune.org and CCleaner from http://www.piriform.com - both wll find files the other misses.
5. If you suspect the system is slowing down online or off, download a strong malware tracker and deal with anything it finds before things get worse. Post in Tom's if that happens for the best advice as to which one to use at that time. Malware uis changing lal the time and some tracker developers are quicker off the mark than others.
