Hallo NG!
WindowsXP/HE SP2, OEM-CD
1. copy all files from C:\ (FAT32) by Linux-copy to X:\ (FAT32)
2. clean up C:\ completely by Linux.
3. copy all files from X:\ by Linux to C:\ (FAT32).
Will windows start on next boot?
Please don't mention imagers. I have and use them.

If the Linux copy records the locations of the boot files from the partition
boot record, aind uses that info when copying the boot files back, yes. If
not, no.
What are cleaning if all the files are copied then copied back?

Well, thanks. Locations are normally not copied. So the answer is NO.

I don't understand that. My itme 2 means: deleting ALL folders/dirs and
Files
from partition C:\. Is that your question?

Yes, Windows will start, provided that Linux leaves the
boot sector of drive C: as it is. The physical location
of the various boot files is irrelevant for WinXP.

Thanks so far. Of course the boot sector is not touched by a
simple copy.
