shutdown GUI but when I do the dos window opens when the GUI come up. I don't
want the dos window to show, I just want he GUI, can anyone tell when how to
do that?

The current command on the "Target" line in the shortcut is
C:\WINDOWS\system32\shutdown.exe -i all the other items on the shortcut were

Set the 'Run' line (shortcut properties, 'Shortcut' tab) to 'Maximized' and click OK.

You can also click on the Options tab, select 'Full screen' (Display options) and click OK. In this case the CMD window will appear as minimized (do not click on it or you will have a black full-screen window).

Hope this helps, BillS.

Thanks Daniel, the second choice seems to be the best for me although I would
perfer to just have the GUI open without having the dos window open at all.

Thank you very much for helping.
