I am currently running the stock heatsink on my Athlon XP 2400+. My temps are 48C/118F under load. These temps are too high for my liking, and I want to upgrade my heatsink/fan. I was thinking of getting a Thermaltake Silent Boost. Any reccomendations for this cooler? Is it a good cooler, or is there a better one for under $30 or so.

You have nothing to worry about your cpu temp, unless you want to overclock.
If you want cooler operation, then you may try undervolting. Most of the CPUs can run stable at stock speed with less than stock voltage. You may run your CPU at .05 to .1 volt lower than default easily and reduce temp for free. To check stability, use Prime95.

I don't know about the temps. Asus Probe reports 48C, but the BIOS report 60C, so I think the 60C is right. I set Asus Probe to shut off the system at 60C, and I encoded a movie, and it shut down. So obviously it hit the 60C mark. Also, when I overclocked it to 143*15 = 2150MHz, it shut off in 3DMark2001. BTW, do the Nforce2 boards lock the AGP and PCI bus?

I am using an Vantec Aeroflow on my XP1800 and have it clocke at 2.0GHz and my temperature never rises above 45 C. Though if you get this heatsink and fan don't use the thermal grease provided, it isn't that great, go for some Arctic Silver 3.
