75 to 80 celcius. Right? Be sure your heatsink is square, sitting flat on the cpu, and all fan clips are engaged on the bracket before locking the heatsink down with the clamps.
He has to mean 80 F. That would be around 28 C. One of Tom's video's showed a P4 without a heatsink and it only got to 29 C/ 84 F and shut down. There is no way a P4 can run at 70 C with a fan and heatsink. Even Athlon's don't run that hot.

I agree, make sure the HSF is properly seated and arctic silver compound is applied. Remove old thermal tape which was included with the Intel heatsink before applying new thermal compound.

Ok, you definetly have a problem. Either Asus Probe is screwed up, or you need to reseat you heatsink. Download Motherboard Monitor and check the temps in there. Asus Probe is not the most reliable program. Cross reference the Asus Probe temps with the BIOS and Motherboard Monitor. Also, I think your heatsink is not mounted correctly. There is no way a P4 will hit that temperature if the heatsink is installed correctly and running at stock speed. Usually a P4 will start to clock itself down when it hits 70C.
