I am working on building a PC and was wondering if I was missing anything and if it was all compatible. I also have some other questions.

1. Network card? do I need a network card.
2. Is the powersupply that comes with the case good enough?
3. Do I need more fans?
4. What exactly is the arctic silver paste for that I was told I should buy.
5. Am I missing anything?

All help is greatly appreciated. Sorry I sound like such a newbie. ***this pc is going to be for gaming doom3/hl2/eq2 etc.***

I would change the GFX card. Shame to put a 5900 in a system like that. Go for a 9800pro or xt.

Only reason I picked that gfx card is because I never really used ati and heard driver support is horrible. Yeah sorry about the not linking everything. Also if your bored maybe answer a few of my questions I asked :)

Damn Snork I got a GeForce 5900 and it is faster then my nephews ATi 9800, well for some reason but we both have the same MoB as well............

I don't mean in Benchys as I have no idea how he scores but I have sat with him as he's run Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator that runs ever so smooth and fast on my comp but on his comp his frame rates jerk from time to time like the pipeline on the card overflows and it hick-ups very annoying when you have a German ME109 all lined up nice and Juicy and your about to unleash the HELL of 8 Machine guns from your Ever so nice to fly Spitfire.

Any hoo his comp same board same amount of dual channel ram same CPU but his ATi Card sucks simple as that the G-Card I have out performs it easy.

I would get a Radeon 9800XT instead of the GeForce, and you can buy one with an HL2 coupon with it.

And for the memory, you should get DDR400, these days DDR400 are not a lot more expensive than DDR333. And you will have faster ram to overclock!

And do you really need the A64 3200+, the A64 3000+ is cheaper and is only 2-4% slower in most benchmark. But, if money, is not a proble mfor you, you will be very satisfied with the A64 3200+.

You power supply will be enough for your computer and the network card is integrated to the motherboard, you don't need to buy a separate one.

Ati drivers are no longer horrible. They might or might not be as good as Nvidias, but I don't think you'll have any problems with them.

you should be using drr400/pc 3200 ram.

Since you're buying an oem cpu/processor what HSF(heat sink and fan) will you be using instead of the HSF that comes with the retail CPU?

The case is cool enough and is a good brand.

ATI drivers support is good. They usually get new version every month or so with bug fixes and some performance enhancements in particular game or product line.

I never had any weird driver problem with my "old" Radeon 8500.

I've used ATI for 4 years and found that their drivers are usually quite excellent. And a couple times when I did have minor problems, reverting to an older version was quite easy and fixed that problem.
