Greeting
If you read my older post at mobo section, u know that i got a new mobo..
ok, let me restart it
I recently got a new motherboard, Gigabyte GA-7N400, nForce2 U400 based, I got it as an exchange for my A7N8X-X, cuz that mobo is constanly producing "noise", I thought it was the mobo, so I get a Gigabyte instead
and now, I just found out that, even this mobo is making noise, I get closer to my pc and try to listen to it
omg, it sounds to me that the CPU is making noise when it has to do some work. (not constanly making noise like on A7N8X-X)
for example, it would produce noise when IE is loading, when 3Dmark is loading, when Super PI is calculating, when xxxx is loading, then it would become silent when it's idling
any idea? is my CPU dying?Is it also normal that the cpu voltage is always 1.7V ?It is an AXP2600+
I'm 99.9% sure that it's NOT my HD or any others hardwares..

Do you have a variable speed fan? It could be that it is getting ready to change speed. It also could be that one of the standoffs is too high, so the hsf is wabbling.

no, I'm using the stock amd fan, I don't think it's a variable speed fan.
what's standoffs? :redface:
but if hsf is wabbling, why there is no noise when it's at idle state?

short? what short? how do I fix it if it's short?
cuz I've only changed the motherboard, any other hardwares are the sames, case, hd, cd-rom..but there is no noise at all with my ancient MSI KT3-Ultra2, KT333

Most nforce boards give you the option to vary the speed of the fan.
The standoffs are the little rubber pices (4) at the corners of the chip. If the fan is not properly held inplace, the expanding air between the chip and hsf wuold cause it to wabble, the hotter the more wabble.

I'm probably wrong, but it sounds like the 3D card to moi. When the system is on, try pressing on the GFX card fan with something, like tissue or cloth, slowing the speed down a bit. If da sound gos away, joo da roxxorz!

I have a Compaq nx9005 laptop with a mobile AMD Athlon XP2400 when all the fans are off the cpu does make a high pinched crackling sound I know it’s the cpu I because I used a stethoscope to find the noise the only reason I can here it is because the top is off so I can test cooling ideas. I all so know that the noise is made by most nx9005s . I went in to a microcenter retail store Bearing the stethoscope and “scoped” all the laptops some did it and some did not. So wtf is the noise.

Eh? The neoprene dots are so you dont crack your cpu in half when mounting the heatsink...the heat rising and wabling is pure bullshit!

It isn't unusual for electronics to emit some noise; my PSU and mobo make small amounts of noise when everythine else is turned off (briefly).

As for the CPU, you might be getting noise from things like voltage regulators (or other components) as the CPU workload changes; I have motherboards in the past whose noise would change (different frequency) as power was being shunted around.

cuz the noise is getting very clear especially when i'm opening things like Motherboard Monitor 5
