Dell CD-RW freezing problems - Help

Hello all,

I have a problem with my Dell CD-RW/DVD combo drive lately. Every
time I transfer files to a formatted CD-RW, the system seems to slow
down and freeze up. For example, I transfer a few Word documents, it
seems to complete. Then when I try to eject, it says that it has to
wait for file transfers to complete (these are just very small word
files) and then the whole system works slowly afterwards.

I click on My Computer and nothing appears except that flashlight
bulb. I press Ctrl-Alt-Delete and then when I end the non responding
My Computer program, the whole system freezes up with just the desktop
wallpaper showing forcing me to hold down the power button to reset
the system.

Other than the CD-RW, DVDs and playing music CDs work fine.

Can anyone help me with this problem?
