Athlon XP 3200+ or 3.0 ghz p4?

I can't remember how much the xp costs anymore. *traverses over to newegg* $215 and the p4 3.0c is $229. I'd get an amd64 3000+ , but if I had to chose between the options given I suppose I'd get the p4.


Edit, actually before I lock myself in here, what is your friend using it for? Between the two the Athlon XP 3200+ is the fastest CPU for games (which counts for little in my book because the vid card means more there), business applications and professional OpenGL tasks, while Pentium 4 is best for digital content creation applications, streaming data processing tasks and 3D rendering (ok, when isn't it) so if he's planning to run certain programs the xp could be better.
