Hey.

How hot should a AMD Athlon XP2800+ Barton processor be?
My motherboards shows about 55C in the BIOS, to much?

Thanks!

I am actually living in the north(Norway). But It is very hot in our casa, about 20C - 25C, so then the temperature isn't to bad?

Thanks!

Its about ok. Could try opening your side door and have a box fan blow into it. If it cools down then you may have a hot pocket in your case that is keeping the temps high.

Run the prime95 high temp torture test. If it doesn't crash within 1 hour, your temps are fine.

If it is in summer, 55¡æ is very low temp. But, if it is in winter or early spring, it's a little bit high...

55 is way to hot it should average around 40 to 45 with no load on the CPU perhaps in a game it might read 55 but my guess is it would crash the game to desktop or restart the computer.

If you have temps as high as 55 C on the CPU Diode with no load it is way to high.

Download a program called Aida32 its free and full version it will also show you temperatures at the desktop this way you can compare what you see in BIOS against what you see at the desktop.

If you get the same mean temp's go and get a new CPU cooler and some new thermal paste.

My wife's 2800+ is set at 12.5X179 it wont hold 180 and a core voltage of 7 Volts.

It has 2 extra case fans exhausting air and one fan blowing on the RAM chips that also have heat sinks on them and the CPU Cooler is a thermaltake high end cooler.

Average no load on CPU temps are 40 C

I have change the cooler twice now. And it is about the same temps.

Maybe there is something wrong with the motherboard then? Could it?

Holy crap!

Is this kind of like your monitor running with a refresh rate of 85MHz?

You still don't get it Zoron it is time for you to clue-in I had you going for over 48 hours on that one son.

Since you only post things in Tom's hardware guide to flame people and start wars I led you down the proverbial garden path for almost 2 days before you figured that one out.

You are as many long time internet users know just another forum puppy. You go sit in your corner now Zoron because you know you have been outclassed since the day you were born and being an ass for the rest of your life is not going to make up for it.
