Will I need to reinstall windows going from Sandy to Ivy Bridge?

I'm considering taking advantage of a good deal today on a i7-3770K processor. I have an Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/GEN 3 with an i5-2500K presently. Will I have to reinstall Windows 7 or will it be able to handle the upgrade? I realize that the PCI Express bus may change to 3.0.

Has anyone had experience with this upgrade?

Thanks!

More about will reinstall windows sandy bridge
  1. I changed from a 2600K to a 3570K on a Asus p8p67-M-Pro without issue.
Do make certain that you have a bios level that supports ivy bridge.

It was some time ago, and I don't recall any issues. Windows 7 did not even need reactivation.
  2. Nope, doubtful... If it happens you have an extreme amount of bad luck...

I updated the BIOS so I think I'm ready. I pulled the trigger on the sale so the i7-3770k is on the way.

I'll definitely post my results in about a week when it's installed.
