I've asked my friends and they still can't help me out on this one. I recently upgraded my OS from 98 to XP and I've noticed that I lost my ability to put my system into standby. I read up on this at the Microsoft Knowledge Base and they said that the standby ability didn't migrate over during the upgrade. They recommended I manually reset my Power Management Settings. I've checked out both my Bios and my Power Options in control panel and I can't get my Standby back.

I have: (if this helps)
AMD Athlon 2100+
Soyo Dragon Lite KT333
512 DDR Ram
15 GB (<--i should get more) HDD

Thanks

PS: I had another question concerning soft-off option in the Bios. It has two options: 4 second delay and instant-off. Mine is set to instant-off, yet my system still requires me to hold down the power button 4 seconds to turn off the power. Any ideas to make instant-off actually turn off instantly.

Thanks again

you can rightclick on your desktop and select properties then go to screensaver there you can go to energy check if the correct options are set there
