Hi everyone,

Recently I bought an HP p7-1270t PC w/ Windows 7 Home Premium OS,
i3-2100 CPU and H61 chipset.

My problem is that the sound on the computer is way, way too low.

On my old comp which had Windows XP, I had these 10 year old cheap Polk speakers,
and with sound on max it blasted audio all throughout the house.

Now I plug these same speakers into the new machine, and even on max you can barely hear anything.

This is a real problem for me, are there any codecs etc. that can be downloaded to increase sound?

I do plan on buying some new speakers this weekend, but nothing expensive like $15-30 range,
nevertheless I'm worried that even with the new speakers, the sound still won't be loud enough.

Thank you!

According to the HP website, your motherboard provides only "line out". This is a one-volt signal that will not drive a speakers. You will need amplified speakers (denoted by an active power supply and volume control) to use "line out".

Could anyone provide recommendations on some low-cost speakers that are easy to pick up at retailers?

I really like listening to music and watching DVDs and online content on my PC with clear sound, not looking to spend too much money though....thanks!
