Well, another sign of Gateway's slashing...

I just got a letter that says the Gateway Moola points on the MBNA America
credit card with Gateway's logo on it is going away as of August, 2004.
Anybody with one of these cards has to redeem the Moola points (worth a
dollar each) by Nov. 30, 2004. When I bought my last Gateway system I used
these points to get $347 off the price and I have about $150 built up now.
It's too bad the program is ending but frankly I'm surprised it has lasted
this long. I'll now shift to another credit card that provides cash rebates
instead. Probably should have done that years ago.

I wonder if all the people redeeming their points by Nov. will adversely
affect Gateway's bottom line? (which is already negative) Or will the
credit card company actually transfer funds to Gateway and improve their
situation?

I received the same letter and decided that rather than throwing away $578
in Moola points, I'd better use them to purchase a new PC.

I'm surprised that the program has lasted this long as well, considering
that Gateway hasn't had a profitable quarter since 2000.
