the most reliable toners are the manufacturers toners, not cheap aftermarket or refilled crap. basically any aftermarket toner you buy your taking a risk and getting much lower reliability from refilled/reused parts and toner that is not the same as the manufacturers spec.

I would say there are bad refills and TERRIBBLE refills, but never good. well it keeps me in a job, most of the printers we go onsite to fix are filled with aftermarket/refilled crap toner and it is the cause of the problems. Its not so bad if the cartridge is self contained (ie contains photoconductor and developer mag roller) then at least you dont destroy the whole printer and you can just remove the cartridge to solve the problem.

I should say the quality of some compatible toner cartridge isn't that bad. But I really doubt the quality of refill toner cartridges
