i get this error message when win2000 loads, just after
the logon screen: "Your system has no paging file or the file is too small."
this message is followed by instruction on how to solve
this problem and then an "OK" button.
problem is, the system never loads after i confirm the
message (pressing "ok") i just get the same message again.
(the only thing that loads is the welcome sound)
same thing happens in safe mode too.
how can i fix this proble?

thanx.

note: the system was infected by viruses and i've ran
win2000 repair from the setup utility. (after removing all
the infected files of course) after that i started getting the error message.

I'm sorry, but this is what I could come up with. Unfortunately, you might just have to go with a clean install. [sad] I guess you'll just have to ask yourself, "Is the time waiting for a solution better than just running a clean install?" Unless........Toey!?!

This might help, too:

<A HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q259151&" target="_new">Paging File Functionality Requires System Account Permissions and Proper Size</A>

It's also possible that the paging file is corrupt, which means you might have to remove it so it can be recreated:

<A HREF="http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q255205&LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=pagefile.sys&rnk=12&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=WIN2000" target="_new">How to Delete the Pagefile.sys File in Recovery Console</A>

<A HREF="http://www.wown.info/j_helmig/wxprcons.htm" target="_new">Windows 2000 / XP Recovery Console</A>

Be sure to check your settings and allow Windows to control the paging file placement and size in this situation.

try this...

check the local permissions for in the security tab u probably cahnge that in the local hard drive, that could be the more important reason to do not allow u to read in the page file.... read this... "Your system has no paging file or the file is too small." u see "too small" that means that u don't have access to the page file system not necessary that the page file is corrupt, try that i let us know.
