I hope this is the right place to put this post...

I know there are people that know more about computer hardware than me, so I'm looking for some help and suggestions about building a computer. Ideally, I want to build a computer for video editing, but I don't want to go the dual processort route. I also want to stick with Intel, not because I like Intel, but because most of the video editing apps are built around their CPUs.

I'm looking at doing a P4 2.8 or 3.0 on the Northwood core with the 1MB L2 cache. I was going to do the P4 3.0E with the Prescott core, but then I read about all the heat that comes with it and that it actually isn't any faster than the Northwood. So maybe I'll hold off a while until the Prescott technology develops more.

Anyway, I haven't really decided on a mobo yet, so I could use some help there. Plus any and all suggestions on CPUs. Also, if anyone else does any serious video editing, please give your advice and suggestions.

Thanks!
jenerik
