This is a motherboard/cpu combo that my friend may be buying. It says for cpu "AMD® Athlon Pro 3000A+ on board
FSB 266/200 MHz", on pricewatch it says "Details:
with cpu - AMD Athlon XP 3000+", is this combo legit? Thanks!

Athlon pro is another way of saying duron. So that's probably clocked at 2.1 gigs

There's no Duron clocked faster than 1.8 GHz

Pricewatch doesn't lie, however certain vendors might mislead you. Check their feedback, but for my money, it's either NewEgg or Multiwave. I have to RMA a bad stick of OCZ and right now I'm damn glad it came from NewEgg. Their on-line RMA authorization is hard to beat.

Read the site again. They do not call it an athlon xp 3000+, they call it an "Athlon pro 3000+ ". Not much difference, but not the same.

Uh, pricewatch says it is an "Details:

Details:

But the link to the site mentions only 1 cpu, that Athlon pro 3000A

I think there's a Duron 600 called a 1000 Gigaplus or something. Would that make a Duron 1800 a 3000 Gigaplus? Maybe more playing with names?

you are right crash, my local shop here has one and it is a duron at 1800 mhz...the one he has looks as if the duron is made onto the board, not removable....hope he dont fall for the hype, its not an athlon at all.....

I think the specs refer to the MB supporting an AMD 3000+.
Junk board anyway. Guys are pushing this stuff all over E-Bay too.

Yeh, same deal with the "gigaplus" platforms or whatever they called them, soldered on.
