I know it all boils down the "whatever you are willing to pay", however,
I'm looking for current values on pins. I'm looking at a futre time to
add a pin or 2 to a store I'm going to be opening as I've always loved
'em but rarely see them around to play anymore! I just want to know what
a good price for certain ones would be so I don't pay 1500 for a unit
that typically only goes for 750.
A little intro of myself to the newsgroup as that is per usual for
noobs. I've been playing pinballs for well over 20 years. The first
machine I can remember playing I believe was an old Williams machine in
the 70s.. I don't remember much about it except it had a Baseball theme
to it and all it did was buzz and ding. Then later played a lot of Black
Knight and Fireball. Some of my other faves have been Whirlwind,
Earthquake, Pinbot, High Speed, Rollergames, Simpsons, Funhouse (Stay
Away from the clock!) Addams Family (personal fave, CLASSIC game!), and T2.
Machines like this I'd like to find but WOW Addams Family, seems to go
for well over 2k in most cases! Is this typical? I guess I'm not the
only one that loved this machine!

Addams goes fo2K PLUS just about every time.. Sometimes 3 or 4K
depending on condition. In the 1500 range you could get Black Knight,
Fireball, Whirlwind, Earthquake, Pinbot, High Speed. Condition,
location also play a role.

Short Story: Your at least 6 years too late.
Long Story: I started collecting 6 years ago, I could cold call operators in
you region and get some good buys. As the years marched on two things
happened:
a) They had fewer and fewer pins and early 80's videos(my other interest).
b) There were fewer and fewer ops. Some died, some retired, most quite or
went broke.
Its no exaggeration, where I live there are about 50% of the operators still
in business then just 6 years ago. With one or two exceptions I always like
operators. No bullshit, good stories and often a fair price. Collectors are
a LOT more difficult (i.e. expensive), especially to buy from.
I bought my only TAF from a op back in late 2000, paid all of 1100 bucks.
Good luck getting a deal like that today.

You mean we cant get a Funhouse for $1500 anymore? Geez, these prices are
really creeping up on me, and why do the value of my pins always stay the
same!
Oh well, the more idiots that destroy pins ( or burn them, after PCB repair)
the supply/demand ratio will change.
