Sorry, I figured out the first problem about not being able to screw the heatsink in, I have it screwed in, but now another problem.
The instructions say screw the bolts in until they are completely tightened, well right now they are pretty tight, and the heatsink doesn't seem to able to move around too much, and I've heard stories of AMD chips being crushed very easily. This isn't an AMD chip, but I'm sure a P4 can still be crushed if enough pressure is put on it.
Should I leave it as it is? Or keep tightening the bolts? Right now I figure it's safe to stay where it's at, since the heatsink feels pretty sturdy.
Edited by xboxizdope on 04/30/04 07:57 PM.

Unlike AMD Athlons, P4s have integrated heat spreaders which make it a lot hardy to crush a chip, especialy in your situation: You have a flat surfarce mating with another flat surface, this way the chip can take a lot of pressure.
