Auction purchase

Last response: in Laptops & Notebooks

I bought a dell model #PP01L in an auction. I have not put a hard drive in it. When i turn it on it says it is password protected. grr. I disconnected the internal battery for 24 hours with no success. How do I get around this? I really wasnt expecting this and it is very frustrating. I was going to try to put in windows installation disk but there is no cd rom. doh. any suggestions?

More about : auction purchase

Ok I see that the common response is contact dell. I bought this at an auction. are they really going to help me get into it? I am starting to think that this wasnt the best purchase. im glad it only cost me $10.00 to learn a lesson.

Well is it a windows password or bios.

If it is bios, you will have to remove the battery for the bios inside the laptop. Take that out for about 5 min then put it back in. This should reset the Bios.

It can't be a windows password with no hard drive (or a hard drive password) if you have already tried removing the bios battery I don't think you will be able to do it without a new bios chip and a soldering iron.
