I have upgraded vista to windows 7 n my DVD drive is not working

uninstall Dvd drive driver from device manager.. also check the for any damaged cables..

yeah, I would try replacing a cable.
You can remove it from device manager but a DVD drive with bad drivers would be a rare situation.
Also, Drive go bad, I had one that would read DVD's but stopped burning them no matter what. After installing a new drive it worked fine. DVD drives can be purchase for as low as $25.
