I've been reading the messages about 'best colour photo printer for plain papers'. I have a similar question (6 years later). I need to print high quality photo prints onto heavy card or parchment - much of which is not 'photo quality'. I have 3 printers, an Epson 1290 A3, a Canon 600, and the HP3180. The HP's quality on plain paper is brilliant, but because it bends the paper round a roller instead of having a straight-through path, it's hopeless on heavy card (tho' HP says all their printers are supposed to print up to 280gsm). The Canon is a good workhorse but not on plain paper, and the Epson is brilliant but again, not on plain paper. Do you know of any of the current tranche of printers now (either A3 or A4) good enough to print on photo quality on plain paper card? I've been looking at the Canon Pixma 6150 or 5250 but don't know their quality; or the Canon Officejet 4500.
