Approximate Purchase Date: For this week if possible.

Budget Range: Around 200$ After Rebates it can go up to 250$ if it's really a better monitor.

Monitor Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming, video editing, watching movies, surfing the internet, typing reports

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: ncix.com or any other canadian sites

Country of Origin: Canada

Brand Preferences: My brother had a LG screen die after a year.. but I guess it still can be considered, though I'd prefer any other brand.

Physical Size (Diagonal): 22 to 24 inches.

Resolution(s) You'll Consider: 1920x1080, 1920x1200, 2560x1440, 2560x1600

Computers and Other Devices To Attach: One desktop, (VGA(with DVI adapter), DVI, HDMI).

Panel Type(s) Desired: Any.

LED Backlight: Avoid

Speakers: Indifferent

Wall-Mount: Indifferent

Stand Functions: height, tilt

Additional Comments: I'd like to have as less lag as possible with a pretty decent image quality. I do realize at this price it won't be the best but a pretty decent mix will suffice.

How do u think about this ViewSonic LED 23.6" LED-Backlit Monitor $170.00?

It might not be the best video editing monitor. But the price is sweet for sure. Hope u find the best bet. Good luck.

Thanks but, I really don't think LED are for me. I should edit my post.. I've seen one, a ViewSonic to top it off, and I really don't think I would be able to bear this kind of display for as long as I would with a LCD display.

Both are IPS panels with relatively fast response times (ignore the stated response times, they are irrelevant most of the time). Actually both use the same panel but the dell has a better stand and CCFL backlighting. I strongly recommend one of these, I avoid TN panels like the plague, they have horrible contrast and color accuracy and shift contrast disturbingly easily based on positioning. One of these will give you a vastly superior image to practically anything else in the same price range. Note that if you are a really hardcore gamer (and I do mean really) you may want to consider a TN panel with 2-3ms response rate. For video editing these monitors are great though due to their higher color accuracy (I would get the dell if I were you, it seems to have better reviews and reliability).

Oh yeah I had seen the Dell one before, and since it was out of my price range I had to discard the choice, but with that special I think I could probably afford it. Plus it looks like a pretty nice choice! Thanks~

I'll wait a bit more so see if there are other suggestions. If not I'll probably take the Dell U2311H.

[Edit] Never mind the special never worked nor was it for Canadian users. Still waiting for a suggestion please!
