I have a AMD 3200+ cpu and a Asus an78x-e mobo. Both are new. When I installed the cpu the default settings came up as 166x14 instead of the normal 200x11. It boots fine with the 166x14 but is a little unstable. It wont boot under any other settings - including 200x11

I have 2x512mb Corsair 3200 memory Cas2 if that helps.

Any ideas.

It sounds like you got one of the rare HP version 3200+ processors! According to a CPU list I read, AMD made the 2333MHz 3200+ especially for them.

You might have a problem getting the thing to run at 200x11, because most of the newer cores are locked.

Wu, it doesn't sound overclocked, 2333 is stock for a few 3200+ processors.

But why is it running at 166

The 2333MHz 3200+ I saw on the list ran at 166x14 (aka AMD's 333MHz CPU bus, double data rate). It was produced specifically for Hewlett Packard according to that sight. The reason it's clocked faster than the "normal" 200x11 3200+ is because the slower bus speed provides less performance, so they make up for that handicap with a higher CPU clock.

try claring your coms memory it is normaly a white jumper on my motherboard it is jp5

all you need to do is to unplug the power supply from the motherboard then move the jumper to the left then back.
