Date and Time Changes Every Day

So i recently bought a comp, and every day (or every time i turn it on) its date changes to 2002 and the time to 12AM. I don't know how to fix this as its gets annoying to manually change it everyday. Oh and its not a virus, as soon as i unpacked my comp and turned it on, it was the same date and time. Can some1 please offer some advice?

Change the CMOS battery on the motherboard.

The date and time (as well as some hardware configurations) is maintained by a small button-type silver-coloured battery on the motherboard. Yours probably needs changing. It's called a CMOS Battery in computer-speak, but it's just the same as batteries used in electronic gadgets and kids toys.

Change the battery, after you have changed the battery make sure that the performance settings in the BIOS are still set to optimal that is check that the processor is running at its correct speed.
