Yes it does matter, the Athlon64 performs noticably better with high-intensive AI calculation games.

I would buy a 2.8C and clock it up over a 3.0C. The 3.0 will run hotter with the same FSB. Northwood OWNS XP, but Scottchen is 100% right on A64. I would probably spring for a 3200 with the larger cache and overclock it just a little. Take it to a LAN party and watch Northwood owners scream in terror as you fire up the Sabre Jet! :lol:

I love my 3200+@2300mhz, it beats my old 3.6Ghz P4 in games, well except Quake3.

your exaggerating. a 2.2ghz AXP is more than enough for gaming. buy a mobile AXP for 100 bux and you got 2.4ghz+ (mines at 2.5ghz, 1.75vcore and 45C full load) which is more value than any Intel cpu
