kill win2k

I am currently running win2k, and I apparently was trying to re-install it on my hard drive and now I have 2 seperate win2k start ups, one on C: and one on D: I've deleted everything I thought was windows related on D: but still get the choice upon restart. How do I kill all my OS's from within Win2k? I could do a fresh reload, which I'd like to do anyways, but how do I get to a DOS prompt to do a format? I don't have a boot disk apparently with 2k, but I do have the 4 floppies that allow you to run setup without a bootable CD-ROM. Any help would be appreciated.

Once all 4 floppy disks finish loading, follow the installation steps, choose to install win2k, delete the partitions that have OS's, then create new partitions to install win2k again.

Obviously, you really are a newbie.

No, just edit the c:\boot.ini file and remove the line for the second copy of windows. No need to repartition anything.

He wants to <b>reinstall</b> (editing boot.ini wont help), he also wants to do a <b>format</b> (editing boot.ini wont help).

Well, the original post could be taken in 2 ways:

Would indicate that the remaining o/s was on C:, in which case, editing the boot.ini would indeed solve the problem.

then booting from the setup disks will indeed offer the chance to repartition/format.

From the original post, to me it sounds like windows 2k is still running, if so, I'd edit out the redundant lines from boot.ini, get into windows, and format any other partitions from there.

Well now this is funny, did a search for Boot.ini on both local drives and nothing comes up. Any other ideas?

It's a hidden system file in the root drive. Make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is selected in Folder Options.
