Where is the post on playfield repair that used a decal?

I remember reading a post not too long ago where a guy said he printed
the artwork on a white vinyl sheet and covered it with mylar and stuck
it to his playfield where he had excessive playfield wear. What
happened to this post? I have spent hours trying to find the thing
because he had a write-up on what he did with some pictures and all.

any ideas which post I'm talking about?

I think Jeff from Classic Arcades did something similar with a
Supersonic also.

It was for a Dracula, in front of the drop targets. Seems like the
post was 4-5 months ago at least.

D'oh, my mistake. I've been off the newsgroup for a few weeks. There
was a Dracula that did something very similar with really nice results
as well.

I am really interested in how people have done this.

I am looking to try this on my black hole. It has areas of wear that a
previous woner decided would be repaired by gobs of aqua paint.

I would touch it up but the fleck pattern that is used on BH is nearly
impossible to adeqautely replicate (at least from my skill base).

It seems people are using digital cameras however isn't that a real
pain to resize?

Has anyone used one of those old colour hand scanners? I now they had
their issues too however to capture a small area (in the right
proportion) they seem to be more suited

You wouldn't resize it, you would take a high res photo and then crop
it to the specific area you need. Take a photo of MORE than you need
and cut the extra stuff out.

Actually, you would need to resize the photo from a camera. They just
don't print out at the correct size, they need to be manipulated in a
graphics program.

For the HH decals I did, it really only took maybe 5 minutes to get the
artwork to print out at the correct size using Photoshop for my
adjustments. What took the longest (maybe 45 minutes for each decal)
was getting the colors to print out correctly so that they match the
colors on the playfield.

Like anything, if you spend the time to get it just right, the results
speak for themselves.
