Hi everyone.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask at but I'll ask you anyways.
I am running a Windows 7 x64 OS. My problem is that my CD/DVD reader reads CDs fine but when I insert a DVD, it makes weird sounds and doesn't detect the DVD at all. I already checked for that filters thing in Registry Edit but I had no filters. All drivers are up to date. Device Manager says that the Reader works fine. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Providing it really is a DVD reader also, try getting it to read a few more dvd's - some cd/dvd's might become unreadable for various reasons e.g. dirt build-up, scratches. You should also try wiping the surface of the problem dvd with a cloth & try again.

I already did try 3 different CDs and none of them worked, so I guess the problem is the DVD Reader...

The good news is that they are cheap to replace.

Yeah, tell that to my dad -_-'
Anyway, if I wanted to replace it, how do I know which Reader fits perfectly to my Notebook?
