Hi
I didn't know about the FAQ. So thanks for linking it.
OK. Replying to the FAQ, I hope this helps:
budget $800 or less (unless it's stupendous!)
Considering any 13" that has at least 1280 X 800 (wide screen basic res, right?)
It is not a replacement to my Desktop, but I do much more than Internet/Email, even when on the road
Battery life - 5 hours or better (unless this is unreasonable)
No games for me.
Photoediting, database programing, internet browsing, email
HD - doesn't matter
I buy mostly from Amazon, Newegg, Buy.com
I want to keep the laptop for as long as I don't have money to buy a new one - which can be a while the way things are :)  Previously I used consider 3 years as the life span of a laptop, but I ended up using the thinkpad x31 for > 6 years! I wish I had the cash to replace it with Lenovo
Don't need optical drive
only brand I don't like is HP - open to all known others
I live in USA

the most important feature is weight, and for it to have enought RAM or at least be upgradeable to mucho RAM

Go with Asus, any other laptop will deceive you (especially after warranty expires: NO ACER, GATEWAY, TOSHIBA, HP)

you have been warned!!!! :pt1cable:

ok. But which model would you recommend? Some tell me that the Asus battery are good for about 1/2 the hours it claims. Is this true?
