Hi all,

I have Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit OEM on my homebuild. I'm wondering if buying and upgrading to Win 7 pro will let me have a movable license; I'm considering upgrading to a different mobo+cpu and I know that will mess with my licensing. I've heard of people moving their OEMs to new builds with enough phone calls, but I'm wanting to save some hassle and I want to get a pro version anyway. My google-fu is just not turning on today.

Looking back, I wish I would have gotten the full version, but it was like $75 and I was on a budget. Anyway, thanks for the answers!

Unless you intend to operate in an office environment (ie., join a domain) then Pro is not needed. All you need is a retail copy rather than OEM. And no, the same key will not work on both.
