My room gets very very hot in the summer so i lowered my xp2400's voltage to 1.15 volts with core at 1.4 ghz...it runs really cool wich is nice when im all sweaty.

but my question is...does lowering the voltage place any substantial additional load on the cpu or motherboard? i dont want to cook either one of them as it costs money that i dont have.

CPU: Athlon XP 2400 w/T-bred
MOBO: Aopen AK77-600N
PSU: Allied 300 watt(came with the case what can i say)

LOL lowering voltage only puts out less heat making your components last longer.

thats what i figured...but i didn't know if the lower voltage put more load on the resistors that supply the cpu's power. let me put it this way, i didn't know if the voltage adjustment resisted the voltage supplied by the PSU or if it just drew less power in general...but you cleared it up thanks :)

It'll put less stress on system components, and everything should be generally quite a lot cooler. I usually tell people if theyre not overclocking its always worth undervolting, just for the sake of a slightly cooler running computer. I would undervolt if my mobo supported it :(
