Since I found a HUO TAF, I don't need my beautiful new playfield.

This is an IPB "first" TAF repro playfield, including:

* Fully drilled by Chris Hutchins. The playfields as delivered were missing
over 40 holes, which is a huge project to attempt on your own and was a big
part of my cost.
* Fully dimpled by Chris Hutchins.
* Fully t-nutted by Chris Hutchins.
* Chair hole beveled by Chris Hutchins (another IPB oversight, now it
matches NOS.)
* Clearcoated by Chris Hutchins.

I've got almost $1300 into it -- you certainly won't find a better IPB
example. I'll sell it for $1000 if you pick it up in Long Beach, or I'll
ship it if nobody local wants it. I can take photos if you want to buy it
assuming it's as described.

I'll sell the cab and playfield together (see my other post) for $1700 if
you buy them both.

Thanks!

Randy

Gene sold them personally at Expo and Texas Pinball Festival when they first
came out, before the second and third runs (as I understand it) were done.
AFAIK they were never sold after that. The one I'm selling here I purchased
on eBay about six months ago for $600, and the seller originally purchased
it from Gene at Expo.

The IPB "firsts" still were missing a lot of holes, no dimples, no t-nuts,
non-opaque inserts, non-opaque black on the inserts, and non-beveled chair
holes, and maybe some other minor differences -- but they didn't have the
blemishes that later runs had.

what blemishes? you just described every characteristic the 2nds and
3rd had.

i know i post on these pf's a lot, but i wasn't aware of any FIRSTS.
maybe you can draw the line in the sand that seperates a FIRST from the
rest.

I bought also from Gene. I know I had firsts but they had issues as
stated. I think initially he had brought 10 or 20 to the expo for
sale.

As far as the chair hole everyone puts a protector in them which
completely modifies them from OEM so that issue has been over blown. T
nuts , dimples, holes that really does not matter. Simple 30 minute
job to fix.

I was very happy with the ones I bought and the folks who have
installed them in their games are extremely happy. The ones I bought
were much better then the later ones that I saw and heard of. I think
given a thrashed playfield any of them for the price were much better
2nd, 3rd's, etc.

2nd, 3rds, etc were the 'quality' ratings, not 'runs'. The repro was
so inconsistant they had to grade them and sell then as lesser
quality.. because they couldn't possibly sell them as full quality :)

I bought mine at Chicago Expo as well.

I installed a first earlier in the year and I can tell you that
drilling over 50 holes of at least two different sizes really does
matter. If you can drill all those holes, pound in the t-nuts and
dimple the playfield all in 30 minutes, then I am in awe of you! Hell,
it took me hours to get the drilling done alone, not to mention the
t-nuts and dimpling.

I agree that the playfields do look nice. I had mine clearcoated by
Playfield Renovations. Even if you have a 2nd or 3rd, PR can fix
almost all of the issues on those playfields.

My understanding was they also did three runs of playfields, not to be
confused with "second" and "third" quality. I could be mistaken, as I often
am ;-)

But I am fairly certain that the only "first quality" playfields were from
the first run.

That was my understanding and also talking to Gene. The actual first
run was the best parts and as the runs went up i.e. volume went up;
the tolerances and problems got much worse. Bill
