nope, XP Pro is currently "limited" to 4 logical cpu's. Not that there are any cpu's that prove my point, but its true nevertheless. If/when intel brings out a dual core HT enabled chip, (or who knows, 4 way HT enabled chips) they'll need to renegotiate with MS, or you will be limited to 1 cpu under XP Pro (half a cpu under XP Home :-)

Thx All, I'm not sure i'm any more clear on how many cpu's it could take. I assume by logical you're talking about hyperthreading? Or is 'logical' just a different way that the os recognizes the cpu? What i should have asked was if I bought a quad opteron, if i could run win xp, if not then how about 2000 server or 2003 server?
XP Pro is limited to 2 physical CPU.
Logical could come from other Tech. than HT.(IBM also have a similar technology not yet implemented...)
When you buy your XP cd you can read on the license sticker 1-2 CPU.
Im not sure about Server 2k3 but with server 2k it was 4cpu, advanced server was 8 and datacenter 32...
MS will sell you a license depending on how many cpu u got.
