zone friends

When I log into zone friends I cannot see any of my friends. the status bar
at the bottom shows logged on as Name (logged off).

Any ideas why, and is it due to the Microsoft update I did last night

I am on windows 98

The Zone Friends server often goes offline. You'll just have to wait it
out with the rest of us.
