I doubt if it's very different to any other Windows computer, as most now use Windows own Networking to manage the wifi connection.

Assuming the laptop has built in wireless, first switch it on (see manual).

Then run the Networking Wizard to make sure that TCP/IP is set up.

Go to Wireless Network Connection and see if you can detect the router's signal. Apply the same wireless security settings as per the router.
