When will AMD stop making the XP CPUs running at 266 mHz bus? I want to stock up on them before they do. Less than $80 US dollars for XP 2400+ for a CPU I'll probably never have to upgrade in my lifetime.

Oh yeah, we should of all stocked up on 486s before intel stopped making them. That way we would of never needed to update again.......
The XP 2400+ is the last mainstream XP with 266 FSB that you will most likely be able to find. They had for a short time made some XP 2600+ processors with 266 FSB, but those were discontinued in favor of the Barton core XP 2600+ and faster speed processors, which have a 333 FSB.
I would anticipate that The 266 FSB cores will cease production within the next 3-6 months.
Did you know that 89.72% of all quoted statistics are false?
and once they cease production, you can still find them. its not like all the retailers stock of these chips instantly vanishes the second they shut the fab down
i can still find 486's in decent quanity, so dont worry about not being able to find an axp2400 in the future.
I've got a book of matches,
I've got a can of kerosene,
I've got some bright ideas involving you and me.
The only 266 bus chip AMD is making right now is the mobile chip. All desktop chip in production are 333. That does not mean that they are not still being sold which they will be for a while.
Mobile Barton 2500+ @ 2420mhz 11x220 1.7v
Asus A7N8X Dlx 440 FSB
1gb Geil GD pc3500 Dual Channel (2-3-3-6)
Segata 80gb SATA 8.5ms seek
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro to XT(420/730)
I think he has a good point. Truth be told many of the new advancements may be more for "bragging rights" than for actual practical advantage. Something like a athlon 2400 probably *is* adequate for most any practical use for the average computer user.
