Actually, I own one that takes a beating on rgp (The Sopranos). I also
have MM, AFM, CV, and BSD.

I was at a mall (greater cleveland area) and noticed the "new" arcade
had three pins. Black Rose, Theatre of Magic, and Black Knight 2000.

I actually enjoyed playing Black Rose. I know this game takes a beating
from the group. Everything was in working order and I had a few quality
games. I found it fun.

I also enjoyed playing the Black Knight machine (except that one
doesn't get slammed) Theatre of Magic I used to own. Didn't get a
chance to play.

Anyone else enjoy playing some of the machines that get trashed on rgp?

Yeah, CP. Don't get why it's hated.

At a local pizza joint, I played an X-Files for the first time, and I
actually enjoyed it. Didn't play it enough to see what the difference
in choosing the girl would have done, but it had alot of things to do
and was in pretty good shape, so I guess that had alot to do with it
too, Plus beer buzz makes almost any game interesting.

Raven & Genesis. I think that it's a tie between the two for the worst
backglasses as voted by RGP. Still, I like them both.

Roadshow!

I know it has fans here but generally "too linear" and "I hate country
music" are the popular quotes.

Everyone has different tastes.

I for one think MM is the most overrated game ever... but...

I'm a big fan of Rollergames, a game that a lot of folks don't like..

But, it's gaining followers!

Champin Pub is great. Any game where you can bet your points on a mode
is fricken fantastic.

I'll second being a big fan of RS. The best part about liking an
unpopular game is that it can always be found cheaper than a popular
game.

Actually, the games I enjoy (also own) generally are ignored on RGP. They
include Lawman, Big House, and Bone Busters, Inc. My other games are
occasionally mentioned, and usually in a nice manner.

Happy pinball!

I know that Gottlieb gets trashed alot for the games they made at the end, but the Light Show on Hurt alone is worth the price to play, and it has some very interesting Ramps, VUK's, Mods as well as the cool seventh inning stretch music. I have a Hurricane and love it. I also have a RS and Love it. And CP is
on my most wanted list.

I also enjoy the Data East games and people bash them all the time.
Tails of the Crypt, Star Wars, and Back to the Future are all enjoyable
machines that can be purchased at a reasonable price. I own a Hook;
most people who come to my house for the first time to play pinball
enjoy it the most.

I like to play Rollergames. It's a great overall machine for gameplay.
The theme and music were a little much, so I sold mine, but I do miss
it every once in a while. IMO, its layout and feel and very similar to
HS2.

Black Rose, on the other hand, eeeeeeeeeeeechhhhhhhhh! It was fun on
location, but was the only pin I knew I made a mistake on the day I got
it home. So much potential in the theme, but such a cheesy, half-assed
game. The sound alone drove me nuts, and the video modes....UGH!!

Cheaper than what? Rob could barely give his away with lots of spare parts

I haven't bought one. I've seen them offered regularly for $2500+. It
just seems that a game few people like should be cheaper than Shadow or
White Water.

There are plenty of decent games that people don't like. None of them are
lost gems, and in the league with the big boys of popular games, but there
are some.

Johnny Mnemonic, for example, cool game.
Tommy Data East doesn't get respect it deserves.
Jurassic Park is a decent game, although almost a carbon copy of TAF layout.
Black Rose is really not that bad.
Never played Popeye, can't comment on it.
Congo is sort of decent.
Cue Ball wizard is very good for the money it sells for, a steal, so is
Stargate.
NBA Fastbreak is not a bad game at all, it has great flow and lots of shots.
Never played Champion Pub, can't comment on it.
Demolition Man is a great game, excellent, adrenaline rush and flow
Terminator 2 is simple, yet addicting, gets mixed feelings here
I played once Data East Time Machine and I thought it was decent, okay to
drop a few quarters in.
Etc and so on... Play them all if you can. That's why shows like Texas
Festival and Expo are good, actually not good, absolutely essential and
invaluable for someone who wants to sample as many as he can to make up
their mind. You get to play them all and see what you like and dislike, we
have all different tastes in things we like.

That is one of the best parts IMO of both those games

BK2K is on my list too :)

Oh well, that's why they made more than 1 pin :)

Black Rose. It's the perfect game when you don't want to have to think about
"left ramp, right ramp within 5 seconds, then centre ramp". When I just want to
smack a ball around for a while, I play Black Rose. When I'm in the mood for
challenge and depth, I play LOTR. And when I'm in my propellor-head cyber mood,
JM for a combination of mode action and mindless ball smacking.

What it boils down to is not what anyone else says, it's how *you* enjoy the
game.

Would have to be JP. There is just something about it keeps me and
friends coming back to it. Have owned and sold TAF and CFTBL amongst
others, but JP still stays!

Also have Frankenstein - which is also underratted in my opinion..

Glad to see some people rising to Black Rose's defense, a lot more
there than meets the eye. Another game that is actually quite fun but
gets hammered here is Streetfighter 2. One of the most enjoyable games
you will find, that probably won't set you back $1K

I loooove my BSD. I think this game is way underrated. I just wish it
wasn't such a drain monster, but that's the price you pay for missing a
shot. :) I think this game is for the more experienced player.

My brothers high score is only 200 mil who isn't much of a pinball
player (he does better on pinmame lol) , and mine is over 2.1bil. :)

Rollergames is a fine game. Great music, too. I used
to think it was calling me names until I figured out what
it was actually saying! :)

Me third for Hurricane.

I like it, my family likes it, my guests like it. Is it shallow? Yes.
But still fun to play.

Heheh! The only thing good about Hurricane is that you'll know what NOT to
get in your next pin!!! ;-)

Gilligan's Island and Royal Rumble. Ooooh, I feel so dirty. Don't own
either, but I've enjoyed playing them. If I had the room I might buy
one. Of course, I'd bring it through the back door. I'd be too
embarassed.

Gilligan's is actually not a bad game, I've played one a few times at my
buddy's place. I guess for a fan of the show, or one of those into "beach
life", it's probably a great choice to have a game of pinball here and
there.
Black Rose is pretty cool, too. Can't go wrong with chick pirate, matey!

I have to stand up for Hurricane too!! I have always liked it and never
knew it was a "bad pin" (if there is such a thing) until I started reading
RGP.

How about this?? I like South Park too!!! And Monster Bash!!! Sure the
rules are a bit simple, but hey, I'm kinda dumb and I NEED simple rules!!

Before you all go trashing me, I like many of the timeless classics too
Buckaroo, Sing A Long, Slick Chick, Haunted House and Cyclone....and pretty
much all the others too!!!

It's PINBALL!!! Even a bad game is better than none at all!!!

Have a good day,

Jim

Last Action Hero. Fast game, magnets in the playfield, crane is fun..
A fully shopped game is nice and fast..

Congo and Junkyard come to mind. I think too many people bash some of
these machines because they wouldn't own them. I have put money into
working Junkyard machines on location and have had fun. Even beat crazy
Bob in outerspace.

I'm not a big fan of medieval madness or pins like that. Almost my
whole collection exists of underrated machines like Demoman, black
rose, bttf, popeye star wars ep1......

Strangely enough, I actually just sold it! Two
weeks ago. In the process, I believe I've hooked
another future "addict". He's also purchased his
first EM from me this week. Guess which one?

GTB Roller Coaster....! ;)

I like Super Mario Bros. a lot. I plan on picking one up eventually.
I think it's great when a game I like is hated by the masses...it keeps
the price down.

SF2 & Last Action Hero stick out in particular. Most of the other ones
I like get some degree of support from people that have actually played
them.
