i thought this article was pretty telling about the future prospects of EM64T:

<A HREF="http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16879" target="_new">http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=16879</A>

the launch has me a bit puzzled, although its not suprising intel would make it so incompatible with AMD64 just to spite AMD, the fact that they luanch it wiht nearly no support, since even the most current windows beta will not install correctly. I dont see any reason for them to completely alienate themselves by making a proprietary decision like that. The only reason would be to try and stick it to amd lol.

if this is just an emulation and not even a full implimentation, ill luagh, itl just go to show intel doesnt care at all about 64bit on desktops, it wants everyone to adopt itanium right? itll be interesting to see more testing around the net to see if EM64T really is useful or if its just window dressing...

Spite? The only spite I see in a move like that involves a nose and a face, both belonging to Intel. And something about a knife or other cutting instrument.

<i>"Intel's ICH6R SouthBridge, now featuring RAID -1"

"RAID-minus-one?"

"Yeah. You have two hard drives, neither of which can actually boot."</i>

Wait! I'm confused! It uses a 64 bit emulator. So to run a 32 bit prog, will it run a 32 bit emulator on a 64 bit emulator?

I would wait for a others review.Charlie i know to be a anti intel

i need to change useur name.

but it is rather strange that on the day of release there isnt one review on the internet. that must mean no one had access to hardware by intel before this release, which is a bit unusual. either intel was having some sort of problem, or they were diliberately trying to delay reviewers getting their hands on systems.
