  1. Epson is just trying to pimp their ink sales from their web site.

When prompted, I always answer 'Already Bought Ink'. It leaves me alone after that.
  2. replace the cartridge............ all printers do this, what did you expect? it will run with no ink?
  3. You can shut it up if you choose the right option when prompted. There are times when you need to print only blacks and could give a rats behind that your blue ink is low.

This shouldn't be a reason to hate a printer. Just pick the right option.

Don't hate the printer... Hate the game.

We can expect to print it blue if we miss red !!!
    You d'better say nothing...
  5. you can buy systems that provide continuous ink flow and buy large bottles of cheaper ink to connect to printer but seems precarious due to all the setup equipment. I suppose they found a way to prevent that with newest printers but I just saw equipment for sale today.

I think you miss the users point, he knows it runs out of ink but he needs to print something that eg. only needs black which is full but because eg. yellow is empty it won't print. I face the same thing at the moment, I want to print something in purple and have plenty of cyan and magenta but can't print. Yes I can order ink but the print has to go out today and ink won't be here until next week.

Epson forces you to replace ink after X number of prints, regardless of ink levels. So if you print a few hundred pages with one letter on each page, it will force you to replace the ink even though you have near 100% ink. It will refuse to let you print until you buy another ink cartridge.

Additionally as infuriating, if it decides you're out of color, it will refuse to let you print anything, even if you have 100% black ink.

These are terrible printers. Nobody should ever buy an Epson
