All,

What does everyone consider a "good" temperature for an Athlon 64 FX-53 chip to run at? Both idle and under stress? I'm having a hard time finding temperature threshold info on this chip.

Thanks,
Dave

well the max temp of course is 70 degees cel. I would assume just like every other chip 30-40 degrees at a max of 50 would be just fine.

I just built a new system with the same chip. I was having temp and power problems with my old rig so I went with the following:

AMD Athallon 64Fx-53
Asus A8V Deluxe VIA K8T800 Pro Chipset ATX AMD MB
1 Gig of OCZ 3500 unbuffered Ram
2 Western Digital 74 Gig Raptors in Raid 1
DVD ASUS 16X DVD
DVD+/-RW PLEXTOR|PX-712A
CPU FAN SPIRE|SP703C3-1 KK3 AMD
Cooler Master Wave Master Case with 500 watt power supply.
M-Audio Revolution sound card.

I'm using AMD's Cool and Quiet on the MoBo and so far in my un-air conditioned computer room, I've been getting the following temps on a consistent basis:

CPU 42* - 47* Celcius at idle. 53* - 55* Celcius under load

I think that anything to the high 50's would be fine since the kickout temp is 70* Celcius.

Hope this helps.

Sounds pretty good. Those are almost the exact same temps I am running now. Around 47C at idle to 55C under alot of stress (running Lineage II, etc).

Looks like I am in the right ballpark.

Thanks all,
Dave

Assumming you are using the stock HSF, it will be about the same as the bartons with the same limits.

Best to keep that chip below 55c for the best stability. Above that I started to notice hickups in teh gamming.

Mobile Barton 2500+ @ 2420mhz 11x220 1.7v
Asus A7N8X Dlx 440 FSB

Segata 80gb SATA 8.5ms seek
