I can't find where to download this driver at all for XP.. I'm using a Linksys Etherfast 10/100 LAN Card(model LNE100TX) and it won't work without the drivers for the (see subject name). Anyone else have this problem? Thanks :)

Sound like you need to point Windows towards the driver for the LAN card.

Try getting the driver at one of these pages, extract it into a folder, and update the PCI Simple Communications Controller in the Device Manager by right-clicking on the device, choosing to update the driver, and browsing to the folder that contains the driver files.

<A HREF="http://www.linksys.com/download/driver.asp?dlid=2" target="_new">http://www.linksys.com/download/driver.asp?dlid=2</A>

<A HREF="http://www.network-drivers.com/companies/597.htm" target="_new">http://www.network-drivers.com/companies/597.htm</A>

<A HREF="http://www.linksys.com/download/" target="_new">http://www.linksys.com/download/</A>

It might also be necessary to move the card to another PCI slot in case of device conflicts before attempting to install the new driver.

PCI Simple Communications Controller usually points to a software/Winmodem... not an ethernet card. Ethernet cards are almost always 'PCI Ethernet Controller' with a yellow question mark if there are no drivers available. It's highly unusual that XP doesn't have a driver for that card.

Do you have a Winmodem in your computer and does it have the drivers installed? Also, do you have anything listed under 'Network Adapters'? I don't doubt you're having a problem, just want to make sure you're looking in the right place... nothing worse than chasing a ghost only to find out it wasn't the problem.

If the card is listed under Network Adapters then it's possible the card is defective or you have some other problem (ie: cabling). As I said, every PCI Simple Communications Controller device that I've run across has been software/Winmodems.

I have that lan card and when I got it, it came with a cd, I can't recall for sure if I used it or not. I think I did (OS=XPpro), but didn't need to as XP already had a driver. I'm not using it right now because I only have dial up at home. You should be able to get it off linksys website, as mentioned above.

Now that I think of it I DIDN'T need the CD because I registered XP at the first prompt. Is your XPhome or pro.

I just hit Toey's first link. One of those is your CD, mine happens to be ver.5, you'll have to determine what your's is by looking at the card (they show you where to look on the site).
