Have you search AnandTech, THG and others for their Opteron MB reviews?

I would personnaly choose the VIA MB, because it's a bit faster than nForce3 150. But many people don't like VIA chipset. I never had any major issue with VIA or nVidia chipset, so I can't say that VIA are less reliable than nVidia.

It's tricky to use words like <b><font color=green>AMD</font color=green></b> or <b><font color=blue>Intel</font color=blue></b> in a signature some users could think your are biased.

Yes, bothe are dual channel, and I would pick the nforce board because I have never had a via chipset board that was 100% stable whena SB sound card was used.

Does both the SK8V and the SK8N motherboards REQUIRE registered RAM, or is it only the SK8N motherboard that requires registerd RAM and the SK8V can take unbuffered RAM? If I have unbuffered RAM already and want to use the mobo, I can't stick that in there and have it run?

It's that extra pin on the chip. If it doesn't see registered ram, it wont let the chip work. In other words, all s940 boards must have registered ram.

OK, thanks for clearing that up for me Endyen.
