I use palm desktop as my PIM. My office however uses outlook. I am
looking for an application that will enable me to import or export
items from palm desktop to outlook. Most products, such as
pocketmirror, essentially replace palm desktop. You get a choice of
which PIM to use - outlook or palm - but not both. I found one product
"calendarmirror" but it does not seem to work with version 4.1.4 of
palm desktop.

Any pointers would be welcome.

Why don't you simply sync using PocketMirror at work and the standard
conduits at home? That way, the PDA will act as the tool for synchronizing
the two, without a need for doing imports/exports. Or am I missing
something here?

That is, in fact, what I currently do. However as I have both personal
and office information, I prefer to keep personal items off the office
network, even though they are reflected as "private" once synched.

PocketMirror Professional lets you choose which categories to sync with
which Outlook folders, and also comes with a Calendar app that supports
categories, but otherwise is like the original Palm Datebook.
Using category/folder setup, I ensure that my private data doesn't get
synched to the work computer.

In the standard pocketmirror you can specify to not sync items mark as
private.
Click on the hotsync icon, choose 'custom...', select each outlook
conduit in turn and click the 'change' button.
click on the list at the left to find the 'do not sync private items'
check box.
Sorry, working from memory, have not used PM in a couple of years.
